Drive South Africa Travel Organisations

Backpacking South Africa was formed in 1998 as an association, which later evolved into a non-profit organisation for backpacking in Southern Africa. The Backpacking South Africa travel organisation aims to ensure that travellers backpacking in South Africa enjoy a positive backpacking experience in the region.

This South African backpacking organisation is working towards integrating backpackers' accommodation, lodges and associated travel companies in the tourism industry. Backpacking South Africa plans to create a more cohesive national network amongst South African travel organisations with guidelines for maintaining set standards nationwide.

We are members of Backpacking South Africa because we believe that creating a cohesive network in the tourism industry benefits travellers and locals alike. We also agree with the maintenance of set quality standards nationwide.

Cape Town Tourism is the consolidated tourism body that officially represents the greater Cape Town area, with visitor information centres throughout the city. The Cape Town Tourism body aims to promote responsible and sustainable tourism for the whole of Cape Town, supporting community development through local tourism. Cape Town Tourism prides itself in having some of the world's leading visitor information centres where visitors receive the best possible service and travel advice.

We joined this tourism body to support the local travel industry and to promote the sharing of travel information and resources.

The Tourism Community Development Trust is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town and has been a member of the Western Cape and South Africa Tourism and Hospitality Industry, since 2004. The trust aims to carry out sustainable community development projects that benefit local people and create awareness about the benefits of tourism and travel organisations in South Africa. The trust seeks to harness sustainable community tourism in disadvantaged communities creating an awareness of the positive impacts and opportunities presented by South Africa Travel organisations and initiatives.

We became members of this non-profit organisation to help bring the benefits of tourism to our local communities, sharing opportunities and bringing local people and visitors closer together.
